Antique 18ct Yellow Gold Garnet & Pearl Locket Ring
This is a beautiful antique ring, early Victorian but possibly even Georgian in age. This is a 'locket ring', and you will notice that on the underside of the setting there is space for a keepsake, such as a lock of hair. This space would have originally had a glass cover though this has been lost many years ago - we've yet to find one of these rings with the glass intact. The rose modelled ring is centred by an orangey-red garnet cabochon which is original to the ring. The pearls in this ring are fabulous - creamy, lustrous and bright - though whether they are original we cannot say for certain. The band is in good condition, but there are a few small splits visible with the loupe. However, the overall integrity of the ring is good and the gold content has been tested up to 18ct but is unmarked. This is a stunning ring, steeped in history and beautiful on the finger. A lovely antique ring to treasure.
