Antique Art Deco Three Stone Diamond Bypass Ring
This is an Art Deco area ring, made from 18ct yellow gold. In the crossover bands sit 3 transitional cut diamonds, bezel set in platinum. Transitional cut stones were experimental cuts, and it's clear when looking at these stones through the loupe that the proportions are not up to modern standards. The centre stone is bright and lively, while the outer stones show some dark areas from certain angles, where the light being lost out of the back of the stone.
Despite these flaws - which are original to the ring - this is an incredibly beautiful ring that really draws the eye. Three stone or 'trilogy' rings typically represent the past, the present and the future, where as crossover or 'bypass' bands tend to represent the union of two souls. This is a wonderfully romantic piece of jewellery and the ideal gift on an anniversary or significant date, or even an antique three stone engagement ring. A ring to treasure and pass on down through the generations.
