This pretty brooch has now sold - you an view more antique gemstone brooches here.

A most unusual but beautiful vintage brooch, fashioned as a pictorial scene of swans on a lake. The swans paddle through reeds - the water depicted by the lovely moss agate slice - while three bright, white, round brilliant cut diamonds light up the sky. Moss agate is a form of chalcedony which has dentritic inclusions. These inclusions are not organic in origin...although they look like moss, they are actually metals like iron or chrome in various states of oxidisation.

The main body of the brooch has been made from solid 9ct yellow gold, including the pin, and the brooch carries full hallmarks for London 1987. It's in very good condition with the pin and catch on the reverse working well. The brooch is presented in a vintage leather case, as we found it. A lovely and quirky little item, about 34 years old, and seeking a new lapel to call home!
