Wow, what a dazzler this synthetic sapphire ring is! Featuring an oval mixed cut blue sapphire of 2.8cts that's so wonderfully saturated you cannot fail to notice it on the finger. The sapphire is claw set in 18ct white gold, on top of an 18ct yellow gold band.
Sapphire has been synthesized by man since the 1800s but the process became streamlined and the stones very popular in the early 1900s. It is not at all unusual to find antique jewellery featuring synthetic sapphire - they were very sought after at the time.
In terms of chemical composition, this stone is identical to a sapphire that has been dug from the Earth. The main difference is this one was grown in weeks rather than over millions of years. Synthetic sapphires also tend to be very clear, with inclusions typically being gas bubbles and curved striations. This stone displays both under the loupe.
This vintage sapphire solitaire ring is in fabulous condition for its age, and would make both a glorious engagement ring or 'just because' piece. It will arrive in our recycled kraft ring box along with a sapphire care card.

Questions? Please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you! You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 0207 846 0254. We do not have a shop you can visit as we operate online only, however we do have a very fair returns policy so you can purchase with confidence.
Gemstones cannot be accurately graded or weighed when set in jewellery so all carat weights, colour grades and clarity grades are our best estimates. Metals and stones are checked for authenticity, and any treatments disclosed.
Your jewellery will arrive in a display box made from recycled card. We only package using recycled materials, and we think this compliments your ethical vintage purchase perfectly.
A written valuation is provided for all individual jewellery pieces priced at £1000 or more.
